Back to a New Normal
Here in Vermont, we’ve been sheltering-in-place since the Governor’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” executive order took effect in Mid-March. Non-Essential businesses closed and many hotels and Inns across the state went quiet. For our industry, the order meant no “non-essential” guests and an online booking blackout with no termination date.
While these measures seemed severe and even excessive at the time, they have worked to effectively begin stabilizing the threat to public health. With the curve flattening, as per a recent amendment, we are now free to take reservations for dates after June 15th. There are still some questions to be answered and uncertainty about the future, but this is welcome news.
Vermont has always had a different way of looking at things. A way of turning challenges into opportunities. So rather than ask ourselves when things will get back to normal, we’re looking to move forward. We’re asking what the new normal will look like and how can we shape it in order to continue providing a higher level of hospitality experience for meeting and event attendees to our state.
Our member properties are implementing new practices to ensure the safety and peace of mind of guests and working to create new experiences to welcome visitors into our community once the time is right.
But our mission at the Vermont Convention Bureau remains unchanged; To help connect event planners to venues, attractions, and activities across the state and to ensure that attendees get the most out of their Vermont event. Please contact us if we can be of assistance.
